Learn More About In-School Mentoring
In the In-School Mentoring (ISM) program, volunteer mentors are matched with children and youth, identified as needing additional support in schools across our service areas. Children referred to the ISM program may face any one of a variety of barriers to educational success.
Matches are made based on the child’s needs, shared interests, and proximity to school. The mentor and mentee meet for one hour weekly (same day and time each week), in school, during the school-day.
Children who participate in ISM have improved connection to their school community, improved academic performance, improved attendance and higher educational attainment.
Commitment Length
Mentors will meet 1:1 with a child during school hours (typically sometime between 10am-2pm) for one hour a week (same day and time each week) for the duration of the school year (September-June).
This is a student-friendly program – we will work with your class schedule.
We will establish new matches in this program until the end of March.
Mentors may request to be matched to more than one Mentee if their availability permits.
Volunteer Requirements
We ask that mentors have a tie to the community (work or home) that will remain consistent for the duration of the current elementary school year
