Learn More About PRISM
PRISM stands for Pride, Respect, Identity, Safety, Mentoring.
The PRISM program connects young people (ages 6-18) in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to mentors in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Through the program, supportive, inclusive and affirming mentoring relationships are created.
The mentor and mentee meet for one hour weekly (same day and time each week), in school, during the school-day. Activities may include board games, crafts, reading, sports, or simply talking and connecting.
The program helps boost self-esteem, confidence and a sense of pride in identity for young people.
Commitment Length
Mentors will meet 1:1 with a child during school hours (typically sometime between 10am-2pm) for one hour a week (same day and time each week) for the duration of the school year (September-June).
This is a student-friendly program – we will work with your class schedule.
We will establish new matches in this program until the end of March.
Mentors may request to be matched to more than one Mentee if their availability permits.
Volunteer Requirements
We ask that mentors have a tie to the community (work or home) that will remain consistent for the duration of the current elementary school year
