LOCATION: This program will be predominantly run in the Halton region, however will be open to youth from all of our service areas (Hamilton, Grand Erie, Halton). This is primarily an in-person position, but may also include a limited amount of remote work (work-from-home).
HOURLY WAGE: $23 per hour

The Opportunity
Big Brothers Big Sisters, Serving Grand Erie, Halton and Hamilton (BBBS) is seeking a social services professional to serve in the role of Case Manager, Transition to Independence (T2I) to support its mentoring program delivery objectives. This one-year contract is offered in a part-time (3 days/week) capacity, beginning in May 2026. The T2I program is an initiative to support youth, aged 14-24, in developing skills necessary for a successful transition to independent living. The successful candidate will deliver a comprehensive and creative mentoring initiative that focuses on (but is not limited to) leadership skills, career readiness skills and independent living skills. Reporting to the Manager of 1:1 Programs, this role contributes significantly to the organization’s mission of providing life-changing mentoring programs that ignite the power and potential of all young people. Support for this program is provided by the Halton Region Community Investment Fund.

Tasks & Responsibilities
Program Delivery
• Identify and liaise with businesses, community organizations and non-traditional partners who can deliver mentorship opportunities and workshops to young people
• Development of age-appropriate curriculum for workshops, covering topics like leadership, wellness, or career readiness.
• Provide guidance and resources to workshop speakers providing them with the knowledge they need to deliver a meaningful workshop for participants.
• Arrange on-site job and career visits for program participants
• Conduct research with BBBS mentees to determine youth-advised areas of interest for developing independent living skills
• Provide 1:1 support and mentorship to youth participants, fostering personal and academic growth.
• Collaborate with BBBS staff to identify suitable youth to participate in T2I programming
• Conduct evaluation of program outcomes with participants and report to management
Program Administration
• Provide regular reports to Management, or special reports as requested;
• Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in agency Privacy and Confidentiality Policy;
• Perform administrative functions as required.
Who You Are
• A social services professional with a minimum 2-year degree/diploma in a related field
• A strong communicator and willing collaborator
• Experienced in working directly with youth
• Experienced in leading youth programming
• An engaging personality who can establish meaningful relationships with the business community and community partners to create growth opportunities for young people
Required
• A clear vulnerable sector police check (VSC) naming Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton and Hamilton as the employer
• A minimum 2-year degree/diploma in the social service sector or related field
• Access to a reliable vehicle
Eligibility
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
• Be available to work the full contract term May 2026-April 2027
