The Opportunity
Big Brothers Big Sisters, Serving Grand Erie, Halton and Hamilton is seeking a Digital Marketing Coordinator to support its marketing and communications strategy, including but not limited to content creation, asset development, stakeholder engagement, and the elevation of brand awareness. Reporting to the Manager of Communications, this role contributes significantly to the organization’s strategic priority of “Brand amplification through personalized and impactful storytelling.”

By providing mentoring relationships for youth facing adversities as both a prevention and an early intervention, BBBS is positively impacting life trajectories. Our mission, to enable life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people, is made possible through the support of our community, partners, donors and volunteers. We’re proud to support 1,500 young people in the Halton, Hamilton and Grand Erie regions each year.
Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Content & Asset Creation
a) Assist in creating digital and social media content (graphics, captions, reels/videos) aligned with Big Brothers Big Sisters brand guidelines, primarily in Canva.
b) Create one-page written testimonials, including acquiring content and photos.
c) Create and produce digital flyers, posters and cards as needed, that reflect the Big Brothers Big Sisters brand and amplify key organizational needs related to fund development, volunteer recruitment, corporate partnerships, and event promotion.
2. Social Media Management
a) Develop materials (primarily in Canva), and schedule/publish posts across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) that reflect the Big Brothers Big Sisters brand to external stakeholders.
b) Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments/messages promptly.
c) Track social media analytics and engagement, while ensuring that Big Brothers Big Sisters is participating in trending and relevant discussions that amplify the brand among a captive audience.
d) Familiarity with Meta Advertising & Boosting / Set up paid ads (Meta) in partnership with the Manager of Communications.
3. Administration & Coordination
a) Coordinate with donors, volunteers and community partners to support the co-creation of marketing assets that will tell a personalized and meaningful story of their relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
b) Assist with fundraising event and community engagement event planning as required.
c) Assist in the development of banded event kits; on-site branded materials for community events; sign-out system.
d) Additional Business Development or Marketing Communications duties as required.
Who You Are
• A creative individual, who excels at creating and designing
• An excellent storyteller, who understands how to story tell for various audiences, using various mediums (written word, graphics, videos)
• A strong, adaptable writer, with an ability to translate key messages and/or complex ideas into clear, concise and compelling copy
• Organized and self-motivated; capable of managing multiple priorities/projects
• Comfortable conducting interviews and/or facilitating
• You come with previous experience in communications, marketing, social media coordination/management, digital creation, content creation and/or related
Required
• Skilled in graphic design
• Basic photography and/or video skills
• Strong writing and communications skills
• Experience with social media content creation (reels)
• Understanding of social media best practices and engagement trends
• Proficient with Canva; experienced in video editing
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel within Halton, Hamilton and Grand Erie regions for content collection and/or events
Assets (Not Required)
• Education in communications, marketing, media, journalism or related field
• Experience in metrics and analytics
Eligibility
• Be between 15 – 30 years of age at the start of the employment. The youth must be at least 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
• Be available to work the full work term May – August 2026.
